5 Misconceptions About Tomboys

I’m finally back from my mini-vacation and decided to talk about the different struggles and misconceptions tomboys go through day to day.

A tomboy is a girl who exhibits characteristics or behaviors considered typical of a boy, including wearing masculine clothing and engaging in games and activities that are physical in nature and are considered in many cultures to be unfeminine or the domain of boys.

1. You only have male friends

While this may be completely true in some cases its not. In high school, I remember  having 2 or 3 female friends and the rest were male. Its not that i’ll actively seek for male friends or (this famous excuse in the book) “I dont have female friends because they’re less drama”   —  Instead, I would notice that it would happen naturally.

2. You swing both ways.

A lot of the Tomboys (I hate this term) that I know and myself are heterosexual. I think this a common misconception as many think because we like “masculine” activities like video games and sports or dont put much effort in how we dress then we’re lesbians (LOL).

3. You’re not feminine

This is not true whatsoever —  many of us love makeup, doing our nails, hair etc.

4. You’re lazy (especially when it comes to dressing up)

So, we may put in less effort in dressing up than girly-girls but that doesnt mean we’re lazy!  Yes we tend to opt for yoga pants (even if we’re not going to the gym) or opt for sneakers or sandals because comfort is key but trust, that when special events come around we look fly AF

5. You hate shopping

I think we dont really mind shopping although, I do prefer to shop online and If I do go to the mall the maximum I can be in there is 2 hrs otherwise I’ll claw my eyes out but I do love to treat ma’self!
